We are seeking a motivated and hands-on Workshop Supervisor to lead a team of 3 workshop technicians. This is a working supervisor role that combines leadership, technical work, and process management to ensure the efficient production and refurbishment of fire extinguisher cylinders. The ideal candidate will drive workplace efficiency, maintain quality standards, and ensure compliance with Australian Standards.

About the Role

Duties and Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Supervise and work alongside a team of 3 workshop technicians.
  • Manage daily production activities, including testing and refurbishment of extinguisher cylinders.
  • Oversee stock control, including ordering consumables and maintaining stock levels for service needs.
  • Develop and implement efficient workplace procedures to optimize productivity.
  • Liaise regularly with the storeperson, other supervisors, and portable technicians regarding stock and production needs.
  • Ensure production lines run smoothly and that KPIs (Key Performance Indicators) are met consistently.
  • Assist with internal and external ISO audit processes.
  • Complete internal invoicing, purchase ordering, and maintain associated documentation.
  • Maintain production registers and all required paperwork accurately and on time.
  • Uphold workplace health and safety standards.

About You

  • Previous experience in a workshop or production environment, preferably in a supervisory or team leader role.
  • Familiarity with fire protection equipment servicing is highly desirable but not essential (training will be provided).
  • Strong leadership and supervisory skills, with the ability to motivate and guide a small team.
  • Good understanding of Australian Standards relevant to fire equipment servicing (training provided if required).
  • Excellent communication and coordination skills.
  • Ability to manage stock control processes effectively.
  • Competent with internal invoicing, purchase ordering, and general administration.
  • Strong focus on quality, safety, and efficiency.
  • Australian Citizen or Permanent Resident
  • Forklift licence (preferred)

This is a working role — applicants must be willing to actively participate in workshop tasks as needed. On-the-job training will be provided to ensure a clear understanding of compliance and workplace expectations.
