Experienced legal professional with deep knowledge and highly developed technical expertise, viewed as a subject matter expert within discipline. Responsible for the implementation of functional legal strategies for one practice area. Works to influence external parties at an operational level and may represent the department in legal matters. May communicate with leadership on matters of significant importance such as litigation and practice in commercial, government, employment, M&A, anti-trust, environmental, real estate, corporate, intellectual property, contracts and licensing law. Responsible for making significant improvements to processes to ensure that business decisions reflect current legal requirements, trends and interpretations.

  • May communicate with leadership on matters of significant importance such as business transactions, liability claims, advisability of prosecuting or defending lawsuits, or legal rights and obligations to protect the client's reputation and business interests.
  • Provides legal advice to individuals and business units concerning legal rights, obligations, and privileges of corporations to ensure that corporate interests are well-represented.
  • Responsible for making significant improvements to processes to ensure that the organization's interests are protected.
  • May be responsible for interpreting laws, rulings and regulations for individuals and businesses to ensure compliance with relevant laws and regulations.

Here at Chubb Fire & Security we have an exciting opportunity for an experienced legal professional to join our high performing team as Legal Counsel based in Blackburn (BB12PR) on a permanent, full time basis. We are looking for a generalist professional who can work across a multitude of different legal areas including Commercial / Contracts, GDPR and Litigation

This is a hybrid role with 3 days per week spent in the office (negotiable depending on individual circumstances)

SALARY: Up to £70K per annum

What You’ll Be Doing As Legal Counsel

  • Provide legal guidance on commercial contracts, corporate governance, compliance, and regulatory matters
  • Draft, review, and negotiate a variety of agreements, including supplier, customer, and partnership contracts
  • Work collaboratively with internal teams, including senior stakeholders and external counsel
  • Influence external parties at an operational level and represent the department in legal matters
  • Provide legal advice to individuals and business units concerning legal rights, obligations, and regulatory requirements
  • Interpreting laws, rulings and regulations for individuals and businesses to ensure compliance with relevant laws and regulations.
  • Responsible for making significant improvements to processes to ensure that business decisions reflect current legal requirements, trends and interpretations.

Working Hours: 37.5 hours per week | Mon to Fri 9.00am-5.00pm | Hybrid

What We Would Like You To Bring:

We’re looking for an experienced legal professional with generalist experience who ideally has worked previously in an in-house position.

Key Requirements include:

  • Qualified Solicitor with 4+ years PQE
  • Experience in commercial / contract review and negotiation essential
  • Experience in Data Privacy, to include but not limited to, SARs; data breaches; DPA and PIAs preferred
  • Exposure / experience with litigation preferred
  • Strong understanding of contract law, regulatory compliance, and risk management
  • Excellent communication skills with the ability to work alongside key business stakeholders to provide clear guidance and advice
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-moving business environment
