The role ensures electronic &amp; physical security solutions are safe, compliant, resilient, maintainable, and proportionate to assessed risk\u2014often within high-assurance environments and under strict governance<\/p>\n<\/p>\n<p><b>Scope and typical systems<\/b><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Access Control Systems (ACS): door controllers, credential technologies, biometrics, turnstiles, vehicle access.<\/li>\n<li>Intruder Detection Systems (IDS): perimeter and internal detection, alarm routing, graded signalling.<\/li>\n<li>Video Surveillance (CCTV\/VSS): fixed\/PTZ, analytics, storage, evidential export.<\/li>\n<li>Perimeter security electronics: fence detection, radar, thermal, gates\/barriers interfacing.<\/li>\n<li>Intercom\/help points, duress\/panic alarms, lockdown\/alerting functions.<\/li>\n<li>Security management and integration platforms: PSIM, VMS, access control management, event correlation.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><b>Key responsibilities<\/b><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Translate security risk assessments, threat models and operational requirements into clear engineering requirements and performance specs.<\/li>\n<li>Develop security design concepts (architecture options, resilience models, failure modes, coverage principles) aligned to the site&#039;s criticality.<\/li>\n<li>Produce design packs: single line diagrams, schematics, panel designs, cable schedules, device layouts, containment requirements, integration interface documents, network topologies (as required).<\/li>\n<li>Select appropriate technologies and grades of equipment aligned with environment, threat, maintainability and lifecycle cost.<\/li>\n<li>Design in accordance with relevant standards, client governance and site rules (including safety, electrical, security and information assurance requirements).<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><b>Skills and competencies<\/b><\/p>\n<p><b>Technical<\/b><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Strong electrical engineering fundamentals: power distribution, protection, earthing\/bonding, cable design, fault finding principles.<\/li>\n<li>Solid understanding of physical security technologies (ACS, IDS, VSS, perimeter detection) and integration patterns.<\/li>\n<li>Knowledge of resilience engineering (redundancy, autonomy, graceful degradation, fail-secure\/fail-safe behaviour).<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><b>Qualifications and training (typical)<\/b><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>HNC\/HND\/Degree in Electrical\/Electronic Engineering (or demonstrable equivalent experience).<\/li>\n<li>Recognised electrical\/safety training aligned to site requirements (varies by operator).<\/li>\n<li>Vendor training\/certification (beneficial): major VMS\/ACS\/IDS platforms used in the sector.<\/li>\n<li>Security vetting\/clearance: Enhanced BPSS &amp; SC clearances required.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>#LI-BW1<\/p>\n","protected":false},"featured_media":6811,"template":"","meta":{"_acf_changed":false,"inline_featured_image":false},"country":[2],"class_list":["post-12297","job_posting","type-job_posting","status-publish","has-post-thumbnail","hentry","country-united-kingdom"],"acf":[],"yoast_head":"<!-- This site is optimized with the Yoast SEO plugin v25.2 -
