About the Role<\/u><\/b><\/p>\n
We are looking for an experienced Fire System Designer\/Estimator to join our Christchurch based fire protection team.<\/p>\n
This role is responsible for designing compliant fire protection systems and preparing accurate estimates for commercial & industrial, projects across Aotearoa.<\/p>\n
You\u2019ll work closely with consultants, contractors, and regulatory authorities to ensure all designs meet NZ standards and deliver safe, cost\u2011effective outcomes.<\/p>\n<\/p>\n
Key Responsibilities<\/b><\/p>\n
Fire System Design<\/p>\n
\u2022 \u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Produce detailed designs for:<\/p>\n
\u2022 \u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Fire sprinkler systems<\/p>\n
\u2022 \u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Fire alarm and evacuation systems<\/p>\n
\u2022 \u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Special hazard systems (e.g., gas suppression, foam, water mist)<\/p>\n
\u2022 \u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Prepare CAD\/Revit drawings, hydraulic calculations, block plans, and system schematics.<\/p>\n

\u2022 \u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 NZ Standards (e.g., NZS 4512, NZS 4541, NZS 4515, NZS 4510)<\/p>\n
\u2022 \u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Acceptable Solutions (C\/AS1\u2013C\/AS7)<\/p>\n
\u2022 \u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Relevant fire engineering reports.<\/p>\n
\u2022 \u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Liaise with Fire and Emergency New Zealand (FENZ), building consent authorities, and independent qualified persons (IQPs).<\/p>\n
\u2022 \u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Conduct site inspections to verify design assumptions and installation conditions.<\/p>\n<\/p>\n
Estimating<\/b><\/p>\n
\u2022 \u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Prepare accurate cost estimates for fire protection systems, including materials, labour, subcontractors, and equipment.<\/p>\n
\u2022 \u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Review tender documents, architectural drawings, and specifications to determine scope.<\/p>\n
\u2022 \u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Develop bills of quantities, pricing schedules, and tender submissions.<\/p>\n
\u2022 \u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Identify value\u2011engineering opportunities and propose cost\u2011effective alternatives.<\/p>\n
\u2022 \u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Support the sales and project teams during tender evaluations and negotiations.<\/p>\n<\/p>\n
Project & Technical Support<\/b><\/p>\n
\u2022 \u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Provide technical guidance to project managers, installers, and subcontractors.<\/p>\n
\u2022 \u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Assist with design revisions, RFIs, and compliance documentation.<\/p>\n
